Gait Heritage Winter Classic

2nd Annual Gait Heritage Girls 5v5 Winter Classic

Monday, January 15, 2018 (MLK Day)

Update as of 1/17/18, 7:30 pm

Thank you for participating in the 2nd Annual Gait Heritage Girls 5v5 Indoor Classic at Maplezone Sports Institute in Aston, PA.  Thirty-two teams and close to 300 girls from four states participated in the event.
We hope you enjoyed the clinic sessions conducted by Gary Gait, Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach at Syracuse University – perhaps the mostly highly credentialed player/coach in the sport (and his colleagues).
We also hope you enjoyed the 5v5 tournament that followed, which we believe is a great developmental format that was participatory and fast-paced, and which required the girls to play offense, defense and in transition, often in quick succession.  The competition was very good, as was the sportsmanship!
Congratulations to the following bracket champions and medalists:
  • 6th Grade (2024) – Summit (NJ) 4, Chesapeake Elite 3
  • 7th Grade (2023) – Blue23 6, Ultimate Chester County 5
  • 8th Grade (2022) – Mesa 3, NXT 2022 Volt 1
  • High School A – NXT 7, Green Turtle (DE) 2
  • High School AA – Archbishop Carroll 3, Mesa 2
In honor of the Martin Luther King Day Holiday, teams were also asked to donate used sticks, pinnies and eyewear, which the Philadelphia Lacrosse Association will use to promote programs in Philadelphia and further diversity initiatives in the sport.  Thank you to all the girls that donated items.
Thanks again to all our teams, our officials and Maple Zone Institute, our host!
